Shop supervisor knifed by suspected shoplifters Rudy Takkou, 19, was knifed seven times as he confronted three youths he suspected of shoplifting in the designer outlet he works for at a shopping centre in north London. It was just after 5pm on 31 May when a colleague heard Mr Takkou screaming and found him in a service area closed to the public. |
He lost four litres of blood and was taken to hospital where he later underwent a heart surgery.
Mr Takkou’s mother Maria said she appealed to a specialist heart surgeon from another hospital to perform emergency surgery.
"It was touch and go. Had it not been for the surgeon from the London Heart Hospital who took pity on us the chances are, I would have lost my son," she said.
She has called on parents to help put an end to children carrying knives by playing a bigger part in their lives and getting the message across.
"I think parents have relinquished responsibility, they are afraid to talk to their kids, discipline their kids or set boundaries."
A 17-year-old has been charged over the stabbing.
