Environment Minister visits Boscombe project 18:50 07/07/06
Environment Minister Ian Pearson visited a Boscombe project today which aims to reduce residents’ energy bills and cut emissions contributing to climate change.
The Minister watched a cavity wall insulation demonstration of a house typical of the area.
"We're very much committed to the long term and measures to tackle energy efficiency,” he said. “Climate change is the biggest issue facing our world today and the more we can do on energy efficiency measures the more we can actually help to tackle climate change.

“One of the great things about energy efficiency schemes like this one is that we're not just saving on C02 emissions, which is good for the environment, we're saving on people's bills as well, which is good for low-income families and households."
The property is just one of over 700 converted by the Dorset Energy Advice Centre, which is partly funded by government and other sources.
The DEAC claims the project helps reduce the number of households suffering from fuel poverty, and brings with it a reduction of excess winter deaths.

Charminster resident Carlos Jesus had his home insulated last year.
“The flat I live in now, in winter there was a lot of condensation before. But now it has gone,” he said. “The house is warmer.”
The south west reportedly has the most energy inefficient housing in England.
