Its a Gay Life...

Bourne Free 2006

By Navaniita Dhar | 07.06.2006

Bourn Free, the gay festival in Bournemouth will celebrate its third anniversary this year with the festival starting on July 8.

Bourne Free started on October 3, 2003, as a counter protest of the Christian voice’s campaign against homosexuality in Bournemouth.

Chairman of Bourne Free, Peter Lovegrove remembered how Bourne Free was put together in a matter of two weeks after the gay community came to know about the intentions of Christian Voice.

Though Bourn Free is not expecting any protests this year, Director of Christian Voice, Stephen Green highly disapproves of any such festivals.

On the other hand, Pastor Dwayne from the Metropolitan Community Church, who support the LGBT cause as well as the festival, feels that such reactions from a church gives a the world a wrong concept about Christianity.

No matter what the oppositions are, Peter Lovegrove feels that Bourne Free will attract a lot of crowd. "After all we are just here to have a great time and entertain people through our festival", he adds.
