Volunteers wanted for sea turtles rescue centre
In immediate need for volunteers is the sea turtles rescue centre in Glyfada, Greece.
The only rehabilitation centre for the sea turtles in Greece has announced that people are urgently needed to work voluntarily in its premises which are situated at? the seaside zone of Athens.
The centre hosts? at the moment 16 to 17 sea turtles which were found with injuries in the Greek sea.
A group of volunteers from all over the world treat the turtles on a daily basis until they are fully treated and ready to return at their natural habitat.
Kim Stewart, a volunteer? from Scotland explained? why there is a great need for extra volunteers:
ˇ°Since the reproduction period for the loggerhead turtle has just started, most volunteers go to Zakynthos island where are the major nesting sitesˇ±.
In the next few days Kim is planning to travel to Zakynthos island as well and continue her voluntary work there.
She has been offering? her services for more than four months already and she is staying in Greece for five more months.
She said: ˇ° I am so enthusiastic because here I have the unique opportunity to work with the sea turtles themselves, something which is not possible in Scotlandˇ±.?
