Public awareness was one of her first aims of the new president of National Marine Park Administration and by apointing ecotourist guides on the beaches.
Mr Giorgos Charbis, an eco-guide of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos explains that it has been only a few months since he started working at the information kiosk of the Park at Gerakas beach but people seem to be cooperative and generally comply with the rules.
Glynis Wheeler, 44, a tourist from Essex finds the National Marine Park more informal than other parks and noted:
¡°It¡¯s a shame that people can¡¯t respect the habitat of the turtle. Government should take the lead and organize it properly.¡±
Thanasis Mpirmpilopoulos, 26, a greek tourist had visited the island ten years ago and thinks that there was a spectacular change in the way people are being informed.
However he said: ¡°I believe that only people who want to be informed actually comply with the rules. It is a matter of conciousness.¡±
