Britain might get 'snob nation' title

Britain is in danger of being seen as a snobbish nation with the tough visa rules on international students, education heads have warned.
Britain:Turning Her nose at the world?
The Home Office’s decision to introduce the Highly Trusted Sponsored Scheme as well as increase the level of English an applicant must possess before applying for a long term visa to study in the UK has not met a good reception since it was announced in April this year.
Bournemouth based international student expert, Dr Lorraine Brown believes the new laws by the Home Office are rather unfair punishing the would-be innocent students rather than the offending bogus colleges.
She also said: “A lot of students are feeling so bad that they are being scrutinized so intensely, it makes them feel like they are not a good nationality.
“Turkish students come to me and say why does England think it is so great?”
Spencer Fordham, director of Capital English School, a Bournemouth based language school also disagrees with the visa laws saying: “Why would you want to come to England to learn the language if your English is already good?”
“The government needs to listen to the industry and the schools so that they can do things properly in the future.”
