International Students: The lifeblood of Bournemouth

Recent statistics from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills show international students are worth £5.8 billion in fees and £2.3 billion is expected to be spent annually by them in the UK.

Bournemouth is a town that personifies what the UK stands to lose commercially because of its position of having a large base of language schools, second only to London.

Language schools in the town stand to lose an estimated £200 million a year because of the visa clampdown.

I went to find out how the Home Office’s decision to tighten student immigration visas might affect Bournemouth’s economy.
