An insight into teenage pregnancy in Dorset...

New rates released at the beginning of the year by the Office for National Statistics proved that the United-Kingdom was again the country in Europe with the highest rate of teenage pregnancies. Critics immediately blamed the Government for not tackling the issue properly, and the Government responded by promising to halve these rates by 2010. But with rates on a steady rise for the past five years, is this a feasable goal? In this website we will take a look at the situation in Dorset. What are the causes behind teenage pregnancies? What measures are being done to reduce the rate of teenage conceptions? But it is also important to have an insight into the lives of teenage parents, so we will look at how difficult it is for them to raise babies at such a young age and how they deal with society's misconception of them.
