5. I want to apply for a grant and want it to stand out from the crowd – what advice can you give me?
According to feedback I have received from SDOs, successful applications look at th
e funding options available and target the correct grants for the circumstances. For example, there is no point an athlete applying for funding with Sport England as this organisation does not support individuals. Make sure the application satisfies most if not all of the criteria outlined. Some larger funders, such as Sportsmatch, require you to submit a business or development plan, so ensure this correctly drawn up and submitted. Most organisations will offer help with the application process so be sure to read any accompanying notes or take any advice on offer.
