4. What criteria do council funding boards look for in an organisation or individual?

Again, the criteria depends on which grant and sponsorship scheme you areJason Queally applying for and in which area of the country. Most local authority grants require you to live or go to school (if applicable) in the authority to which you are applying, and to also show a clear need for the grant. You also may have to show potential in your chosen sport, for example you must be at a least county level to be eligible to apply. Some local authorities also require the actual activity to take place in the geographical region of the local authority.

One response from a representative of Sport England gave the following advice regarding club and organisation funding; “It should be a safe club with qualified coaches in place trained in child protection. It must be a not-for-profit organisation with insurance, a constitution in place with a committee. They must also demonstrate that they can increase participation within the community.”
