A study carried out on U.S Women’s magazines between mid 2004 to late 2006 found that recycling was always shown in a good light.
The special report done by Media research.org found :
“ According to women's magazines, recycling is always good. Out of 15 articles that mentioned recycling, there was not one skeptical argument presented that sometimes recycling is impractical and wastes resources.”
The study claimed that Women’s articles not only portrayed recycling as always postivie but also tried to promote recyclable products to them. One article in the Better Homes and Gardens June edition read "For recycling to be successful, consumers must make the process profitable for manufacturers by purchasing products made from recycled materials."
Recently Larger American Magazines have began to question recycling. An Article in the New York times Magazine claimed: "recycling not only is more costly than landfilling but is sometimes a messy way to try to help the environment and has environmental costs associated with it.
