Defra (the department for environment, farming and rural affairs) estimates that the average person throws away 511 kg of waste each year.
Of that we throw away 375kg and recycle 125kg yearly.
Who has the highest waste weight in the average household?
Assuming most household waste comes from the two adults in the house do men or women create more rubbish in their lifetime?
The national average age for a man is 76 years (according to the national statistics) and women 81 years.
So based on the national average in a lifetime women make 41391kg of waste and men make 38,836kg.
The average man recycles 9,000kg in his lifetime where as the women 10,880. But this is based on house averages who is actually doing the recycling within the house?
