The government has consistently undermined the institution of marriage and the importance of two-parent families in general over the past 12 years according to the Centre for Social Justice.
The CSJ blamed the previous government for the way it dealt with social and family issues.
The UK is one of only two nations across Europe who does not explicitly recognise marriage in the taxation system.
Now it is going to change with the former chairman of the CSJ, Iain Duncan Smith, becoming the new secretary of state for work and pensions.

In addition, a commitment made in the Conservatives manifesto by David Cameron to introduce an incentive tax allowance for married couples, will definitely bring a drastic change.

Marriage rate is falling in the UK because people are getting married abroad according to the Office for National Statistics.

The ONS published a report on the decline of marriage and is trying to justify that trend in pointing at people getting married abroad.
If we listen to the ONS, it seems like there is a big wave of love birds who goes into exile to copulate.
ONS press officer Laura Stanage thinks that marriages abroad may be one of the causes of low marriage rate registration in the UK.

The Conservatives' view
Are the Conservatives really that conservative?
In awarding civil partners and married couples with annual tax breaks, the Conservatives clearly set up their view on marriage and on family as an institution.
This measure can be seen as “discriminatory” for single parents or divorced people as the Labour party pointed out.
Yet, the Conservatives want to go back to a more traditional family benchmark.
Tory councillor of Poole Borough council Leslie Burden affirms that this measure could give young people a good pattern of the notion of family.
