Marriage:Are we still up for the

big commitment?

‘I do’...Do I?

The latest figures show that marriage rate has decreased. According to the Office for National Statistics, marriage rate has been falling in the UK since 1971. The current number of marriages registered in 2008 is at its lowest point since 1895.

Yet, the Church claims the contrary. They say more young people make that big commitment and value it each year. Besides, the government is trying to reverse that trend and boost couples to get married.
Have we been deluded with the motto: 'They got married and lived happily ever after...'? Have we been misled? Is this statement still achievable in this day and age? Is marriage a general myth or a rare achievement?
