“I have voted against the imposing of any binding 10% target for biofuels and supported an amendment that called for a food security impact assessment.
“This amendment also stressed that plant fuels produced in a sustainable way could reduce oil dependency and CO2 emissions in the transport sector if sustainable practices and priority for food security are to become compulsory.
“I hope that farmers in Scotland and in all member states act responsibly in developing crops for biofuel production.”
