This site is designed to explore the many issues that affect European Muslim Women.

It is aimed at portraying a plural vision of what a European Muslim woman is all about.

It is not designed to preach the ideal ways of being a Muslim woman but rather embraces the multiple facets that Muslim women living in Europe experience.

The largest populations of Muslims live in Germany, France, Netherlands. and the UK.

European Muslim Women are very diverse ethnically, spiritually, philosophically and belong to the second largest religious group in Europe.

What unifies them is the shared experience of discrimination based on race, religion and gender.

They say the most common accusation they face is that they are suppressed.

However many European Muslim women are working hard to reject those stereotypes and are challenging the cultural practices that cloud Islam.

British schools could bring change to Islamic thought

British Universities could bring a renaissance in Islamic Intellectual thought in Europe says the Islamic Foundation UK.

The report, Islam at Universities in England-meeting the needs and investing in the future,looked at the way in which Universities run Islamic studies programmes. It argues that Britain has the potential to become a world leader in Islamic studies outside the Muslim world.

Director general Dr Manazir Ahsan, of the Islamic Foundation said: “some have commented that the report is about Imam training – it is not. It deals with the delivery of Islamic studies at universities and argues for a genuine engagement with Islam in the modern day context:”

For Muslim woman, this could be the beginning of a change.
