MPs have been accused of flouting the smoking ban by consuming tobacco cigarettes in the Commons toilets.
It is not illegal to smoke in the Palace of Westminster, but both Houses decided to ban it at the same time as the rest of England, on Sunday as a gesture of good will.
But the conformity didn't last long. Labour's Betty Williams told MPs the ban was "already being abused" and offered to show Commons Leader Harriet Harman where people were smoking.
MPs joined in with cries of "division toilets" and "toilets".
Ms Harman, who was taking her first business questions since taking over as Commons leader, said the issue should be raised with the Serjeant-at-Arms.
Simon Clark of FOREST anti-smoking group said:
"This is an absolute outrage. I'm not surprised that MPs have been flouting the ban. Everyone knows it's one rule for them and another for the public. I just hope these MPs will receive the same heavy handed treatment doled out to every other smoker in the country. "
There is no word yet if the offending MPs, who have not been named, will receive a fine.
