Top doctors warns of slots of danger.

The British medical association has heard new statistics showing huge numbers of young people gambling along with worrying implications for Super Casinos.

Dr Jan Wise has revealed that 5% of 12-15 year olds show signs of gambling addiction and 75% have played on slot machines, saying “If we don’t get a grip of this it could become a real problem”.

Dr Wise also revealed that 40% of children from the same age group had played the National Lottery.

Andrew Poole from the charity Gamcare agrees that slot machines are the most popular form of gambling for young people,

“There’s a lot of talk about internet gambling at the moment but slot machines are by far and away the most popular method of gambling for youngsters”.

These statistics could worry the Government as they seem to oppose their arguments for new gaming laws. This includes the introduction of “super” Casinos and a lifting of restrictions as to where Casinos can be built.

New casinos will be allowed to house multiple slot machines depending on their size, the largest holding 1,250 unlimited jackpot machines and the smallest holding up to 80 £4000 jackpot devices.
