Help Climate "Change"
Climate change has become a huge topic within the media and politics over the last 10 years. An issue that was once thought of as a myth has put the earth in ‘imminent peril”, as reported by the Independent.
Although humanity may be in jeopardy people are beginning to realise that climate change may have an effect on their lifestyles. In actuality no one really chooses to do anything about it. I mean, we could all recycle which is something I believe is our civic duty but purchasing solar panels and wind turbines for our homes sounds like a thing of the future.
The global community needs a wake up call for major officials. The climate agreement leaders made at the G8 summit did not set any specific targets. It merely prolonged specific targets from being made possibly making climate change even worse. One way the public will realise the potential seriousness of climate change would be to have G8 leaders as well as developing nations agree to a universal climate change agreement.
An agreement that includes realistic developments into renewable and sustainable energy resources along with a dedication to transition into making these technologies effective along with drastic but adaptable CO2 emissions cuts. Huge corporations like ExxonMobil and BP may have to bite the bullet on this one but it is their earth to and we’ll all have to make sacrifices.
We may have already begun to see the effects of climate change but we may not realise the drastic consequences it may have in the future until it’s to late. I say we expect the best by implementing better policies domestically, while we prepare for the worst. This seems like the only alleviation to the “imminent threat” that may come to doom us.
