Robots needed for new fetish

When will humanoid robots offer us intimate companionship and new sexual experiences?, and when this happens -no doubt about it-, which benefits, threats and adventures will they bring to moralists, fetishists, loners and couples?

People involved in the sex-toy industry know how attractive it will be to bring autonomous devices and artificial intelligence under covers. There are some sectors of society that will become addicted to this new gadgets, and some others that will see them as a threat to morality and sane sexuality but, who said science had unvealed the mysteries of what the most complex sexual organ, the brain, finally wants.

On the meanwhile, new sexual tribes like "alt.sex.fetish.robots" or robot fetishism envision the arrival of the real 'sexbot'. When this happens, some places like the states of Virginia, Texas and Alabama, might have to cover their 'bots', as the only sell of sex toys is banned by law.

Why roboethics?

In order to move away from sensationalism, this general snap of robotics in the second quarter of 2007 reviews what robot builders, academics and psychologists think the ethical implications of having human-like robots will bring about in the near future: five to ten years.

The need for ethical guidelines and legislations for robot builders and mechanical engineers researching on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems has come to reality with the Korean Robot Ethics Charter, that will come into effect at the end of this year. The utility of such a judicial instrument in the West becomes very relevant when the use of lethality on unmanned robotic devices has already been used by the US Army and the Korean boarder troops.
