India is swelling its ranks of outsourced professionals with a new kind of labourer- a woman with a womb to rent.  This widely criticised practice, many say, exploits global economic inequality to the advantage of the west by coercing a woman to commodify her body.

However, those in the business are widely marketing it as a win-win situation for all- a needy Indian woman gets much needed money and an infertile couple gets a baby

To investigate this burgeoning practice, I travelled to one of India’s most popular ‘baby-farms’, located in Anand (Gujarat).
