Hotel Dolce, Bilderberg 2010 locationThe secretive global elite descended on the Spanish Costa Brava this weekend, attending the annual Bilderberg conference.
The conference, featuring businessman, politicians and royalty, who all meet behind closed doors, took place in the small town of Sitges near Barcelona from June 3-6.
According to Bilderberg writer and researcher Daniel Estulin: "Bilderberg is about the creation of a North American and European elite who get together to see the best way to control the world, not in the sense of government control, but financial control where corporations have a lot more power than government."
Mr Estulin says the key agenda item this year was ensuring the survival of the Euro, while veteran Bilderberg observer Jim Tucker believes the possibility of air strikes against Iran has been discussed.
This year's meeting has received an unusually high amount of media coverage, with many local and national press running coverage of the conference. Mark Anderson, deputy editor of American Free Press said: "The secrecy is gradually falling away…so it's (important) to maintain and increase the visibility of what they're doing."
But Paolo Rodriguez from Spanish network Antena 3 TV said: "This is a secret meeting so we don't really know what's going on. It's important but it's not a priority at all."
Big name attendees this year include Henry Kissinger, World Bank Group President Robert Zoellick, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates and Social Democratic Party founder Shirley Williams.
Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke is the UK's representative on the steering committee; the group who choose participants and helps set the agenda items.
