The Gurkha Welfare Trust was established in 1969 to provide financial, medical and community aid to alleviate hardship and distress among Gurkha ex-servicemen of the British Crown.

In an exclusive interview, the charity Director, Col. William Shuttlewood, discusses the future for the Gurkhas in Britain.

What are your thoughts on how difficult it will be for any future Gurkha motion to be passed?

How easy will it be for retired Gurkhas to find work in Britain, to earn a living in the future?

What effect will earning British wages have on Gurkhas who provide for their famlies back in Nepal?

Will there be a risk of retired Gurkhas struggling to afford living costs in Britain, while they wait for Government decisions to be processed?

Do you think there will be any adverse consequences following the mass media coverage of the settlement campaign?

With the Chairman of the Gurkha Welfare Trust General Sir David Richards becoming the new Chief of General Staff in the Ministry of Defence, will he have an influence on how the Gurkhas will be treated in the future?
