'It's in my genes'

“I am 67. I lost my son three months ago. But I am happily married for the second time. My life is good. Oh except that I have this problem called Metabolic Syndrome.’

With a BMI of 41 Mrs. Anny Tarwe still refuses to take any pills and tries to combat her obesity only by dieting.

“I was always a good looking girl! But now I am 106 kilograms! Big and good looking!”

“I eat two sandwiches for lunch and again for dinner and vegetables throughout the day.”

She believes that exercise and diet should have helped her lose weight by now, but as it has not worked, she has thought about bariatric surgery. But that too seems a distant reality for her as it is expensive. For this she blames the government entirely.

But like she has done for most things in life she doesn’t complain and has accepted it as fate. “Or maybe genetics. Why blame my fate no?” she says with a naughty glint in her eyes.

So out of curiosity for what she did do to be active, I was brave enough to ask! “I walk my little doggie!” she replies. “And not because I like to exercise but because walking my dog pleases me!”
