The effects of this new regulation were never thought of by the trainee doctors let alone to be faced. With promises of establishing a successful career, thousands had left their home countries to begin a new one. And then the betrayal struck them hard.

Shock and disbelief remained for the first few weeks. When these doctors came into terms with their situation they could never imagine the loss they were going to face.

Most of them ended up buying huge mortgages, cars and houses. The training period was destined to last for five years. Now they fear if they have weeks to go.

More than mere frustration and shock these doctors say that now they don’t even have any morale left in them. They have begun to doubt themselves and their capability. Some others who are more optimistic say that they will never undervalue themselves to a government such as this.

So what is the real truth. How much more loss will they have to incur..

The basic issue would be that doctors will now have to start fro scratch. But is it going to be easy for them to do that after what they’ve been through.

There are many implications attached. Dr Arun tells us that even if they had to start from scratch there was no place for them to go in the first place. No hospital in any country would accept them.

“The training that we received here in the UK is utterly useless in an international atmosphere. There is not one country who will hire you after what you have learnt in the past couple of years. The course is only valid in the UK and this is another major drawback about the Uk system.

I personally feel that the teaching and the training was good but what will I do if I’m the only one who’s convinced. I wish my employers felt the same way too.”
