A day with the Poole coastguard
Pip Hall shows me a text message he received at 3am this morning. It reads: “high risk missing person.”
“That was someone alerting me that they were just about to start searching for someone who was maybe old, or sick or disabled,” he tells me. “This time they found her quite quickly but it’s the sort of thing I might have to go out to.”
Pip is the Poole Coastguard who oversees several search and rescue teams on the South coast and it is his job to ensure the safety of anyone visiting or working in the area.
