Cyberspace calling

UK teens and young adults are spending more time online than average internet users according to comScore.
The company which tracks digital information reports 15-25 year olds spend about 24% more time on the web and are 25% more likely to be on the internet compared to other age brackets.
In a statement, comScore managing director Bob Ivins said: “The higher use of the Internet among those aged 15 to 24 reflects the fact that this age group has grown up online, demonstrating how integral the Internet is to their lives.”
“This is the first generation that will have to deal with this eternal memory of the internet...and you have to assume that digital footprint is perpetual,” said Lilian Edwards, University of Southampton IT law professor.
Social networking sites bebo.com, facebook.com and tagged.com were some of the most popular websites among this age group.
“Web properties with a significant proportion of younger visitors represent an opportunity for advertisers to efficiently reach a younger audience with a targeted message,” said Mr. Ivins.
A comScore study completed earlier this month revealed people are online an average of 34.4 hours each month in the UK.
