Living in a war zone

Temperatures of 40 degrees, rare conversations with loved ones and living in an alcohol free zone.

These are some of the trials of being on bases such as Camp Bastion in Helmand, Afghanistan and for many out in the Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) facilities are even more basic.

Accommodation at Bastion is limited to individual tents in shared quarters with a small facility for keeping clothing and personal belongings.

However it's not all hard going, with evening entertainments such as salsa dancing and gym facilities, many view it as a chance to lose weight and get fit.

Here, two Nurses from 205 (Scottish) Field hospital talk about life on a military base.

A packet of biscuits can make all the difference
